Evangelical Christianity is more of an "affiliation" than a "belief". It's not a central idea that lives in the hearts of people; but a side that certain people are born into; or converted into.
There is no idea. But there is a Church, and there are institutions that "support the Evangelical Christian individuals", it's a goldmine if you look honestly to it. It's a club, not a faith.
Most religious institutions -in my personal opinion- are like that. They are clubs, nothing more and nothing less. There is no "central belief", but as with any football club or a basketball club; there are "mob mentality" and "blind bias".
Ask about what the Church bribes people with. The amount of cash and "shiny toys" the members take I mean. You'll be surprised.
The bible? who cares? it's full of Roman specks anyways, but essential for the club to justify its existence.
