Just what the "relevant" world needs, is for the QoE to order someone to kneel (like Ronald Reagan), and have them not do it. I'll never be asked, so it's a moot point, either way. Tim Minchin said it best- "Fuck the Pope, fuck the motherfucking motherfucker".
I would forever be exiled from my home if I got an audience with the pope and didn't act like it was some kind of blessing.
I wouldn't bow, and would ask him where he got his dress?
My mother was a deeply religious Catholic. She had three aunts and a cousin who became nuns. My dad was an atheist, but it was rare that he would admit to it. He'd make statements and then waffle when confronted. Can't say I blame him, as this happened in the '60s and '70s. Interestingly enough, my eldest sister seems to have been able to keep awake at night to hear their arguments about religion. I sleep like a rock, so I guess I missed out.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
