What happens when the Xbox 720 comes out, and it costs $700? All I'll need to do is spend $300 on a high end GPU three years from now, and it'll still outperform your console by a wide margin. Plus, PCs are backwards compatible so I won't have to throw out my old games. Who's paying too much then? Not to mention I don't have to deal with a monthly fee to play online.
This.
Let me further say that he is right in saying there is a huge misconception with the price needed to upgrade your PC. This is my first upgrade in almost 4 years. The only reason I rebuilt everything was because I wanted a Sandy Bride i7 and the socket is different from the first generation. I already had a quad-core CPU, I replaced it with another one which required a new board. If I hadn't upgraded my board and CPU my upgrade would have cost about $300 which is way lower then the new Xbox will be but will out preform it for years to come.
Furthermore, at least we CAN upgrade. You guys have been stuck with the same out dated hardware for almost 7 years and some how you're okay with playing brand new titles on a console that can't handle any anti-aliasing or shaders. Why pay $60 for a game that is a watered down version of the one PC gamers get for the same price, with less customization and features? Who's really being screwed there? Paying the same price for far less.
