Because I actually have heard much the same argument as his alluded to in some posts by atheists in this forum and others (including in this thread ). I knew that these ideas are common in Eastern traditions (Orthodox Churches), though in the Western traditions they are a bit more rare. I think its interesting to read how the exact same argument matches up on the other side.
