But what is the reasons they don't see themselves as in a lost condition because of sin and then become believers?
People are called by God (invited) to see His truth, some listen some do not, took me awhile before I saw my condition. One has to realize that you must give up what you desire to have what God offers. Once I realized God offered a peace that I could otherwise not have, that's when I realized what I desired could not compare.

Like I said before my past probably makes you look like an angel. Even though I was a bad boy and my past might make your life look good, it want help you with God.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
