I realy tried hard not to care about this election. After all, I cant vote in the US and I`m more interested in a strong and more united Europe.
I was very interested in the 2008 election and had a clear opinion about it, I thought if a nation which just had a president who wrecked the economy and lied several nations into war, would elect another president of the same party (and worse Sarah Palin as vice) your nation would be doomed.
I guess one of the efects that the Bush,Chenney administrations had in Europe was that we europeans no longer saw the US as the prime defender and best example of democracy, or "leader of the free world" and that we tried eaven harder to establish ourselves to be that prime example.
What should I think about this election? Your system is pritty weird by our standerds (lack of third (and fourth) parties, head of state forms goverment, election outcome counted by states and not by population), but I guess that a person who has clear plans which he can present for objective analysis and critisism (Obama), is better than someone who hasen`t presented any plan at all and who flip-floped on every single social issue that exists (Romney).
And by the way, I generaly find everyone suspicious who has a swiss bank account. An estemated 80 billion euros of german taxmoney hare hidden from the german treasury in swiss bank accounts a number which could be usefull in the current crisis.
It is hard to say how much money in the swiss banks comes from illegal sources, but it is known that money from human trafficing, drug smuggleing, illegal prostetution and tax evation is there, it is also known that the Drangeta laundered it`s money there and that swiss banks helped financing iranian weapons projects - so Romney should be asked if he had moral considerations about his swiss bank accounts.
