A fetus has no status as a "person" because of elitism and ignorance and is considered more like an animal than a human.
Whilst I don't consider a fetus a person, I still consider it a human. Don't conflate the two: they are two different things. For example; a human fetus is, of course, a human but isn't considered a person.
I also don't consider a fetus (or a few-day-old embryo) an 'animal' in the sense that you mean... Though, humans are animals.
