I am someone who sees Gay rights as a civil movement. So when I hear about a group of people who had to struggle for equality, fighting against someone equality I have a problem. Women were one of the biggest supporters of the Black rights movement here, because they had to go through their own. Now most of the people I know are for gay rights, but a few aren't. I think it is because they don't see it as a civil right. People who are against it see it as a choice or against their religion. But that is the thing it is a right. You give it to one group and deny it to another. It has nothing to do with peoples religious belief when someone can be fired for being gay or when you are denied basic rights that heterosexuals have. While I understand that people are against it for religious reasons, I think they need to separate their religious opinions and their constitutional ones. When you are asked if you think Gay Marriage should be legal they are asking if you think it is against the constitution. It shouldn't have anything to do with your religious beliefs. If you belief it to be wrong that is fine, no gay marriage in your church. I find it hard to understand why people are against legislation that would give gays the same rights as heterosexuals.
