The overlap is that the FOCUS is on performing where music is the backdrop done by others.
Just stop and say "I don't like pop music". That does not mean that pop stars in music do not have talent. It just means you don't like them.
A musician's job is to create and perform music. A stage actor's job is to act and sing (sometimes, they only have to act). How are they being compared, again?
Let the record show that the reason I don't like pop music is because, judging from the music that they have realized, they are far less talented than musicians in some other genres.

Broadway musicals have people on stage who SING AND DANCE. The music is either canned or an orchestra which the singers and dancers don't do themselves. A stage performer like Beiber does the same thing. He sings and dances while other people play the music.
