I'm currently reading Darwin's Dangerous Idea by Dan Dennett, and he argues that Darwinian evolution is like a "universal acid: it eats through just about every traditional concept, and leaves in its wake a revolutionized world-view, with most of the old landmarks still recognizable, but transformed in fundamental ways." Didn't Darwin strike upon a broader principle with his theory of evolution, an algorithm, that can be applied to nearly if not everything (Evolution of religion, morality, psychology...laws of physics, universes, etc.)?No.
The term "evolution"and it's meaning already existed. Darwin simply applied it to the natural world.
