Is a just hell better than a just prison?
The interesting thing is that as scientists work toward extending people's lifespans one of the questions that has popped up concerns the punishment of extreme criminals. Some people have been sentenced to hundreds, or even a thousand years, in prison. So the question is if lifespans can be increased to those extreme limits should such prisoners be incarcerated for those number of years?
They are also working on methods that give the illusion of a person having served such lengthy sentences. So in effect we will create our own hell on Earth for some people.
