Wow, you wait a week for a reply and half a dozen come along at once:
Uh oh, soft soap. Get ready for the handjob of a lifetime.
Please point to a single post where I've said this. If you want to attack a strawman, knock yourself out. Just don't put ny name to it.
Just so we're clear, I am not an atheist because I don't believe your - or any - god doesn't exist. My atheism is based solely on theists not having demonstrated that their pet god does exist. In other words, I am as yet unconvinced that anything you and others tell me about your various gods are true and representative of anything real. Know what would convince me? Evidence. Prove to me that the car you're selling is actually there and I'll consider buying it. Until then, my money stays in my pocket with my belief.
Know what doesn't convince me? Crap like this. Pointing to one part of your mythology to validate another part. Give me something I can get my teeth into, that doesn't come from the storybook. Anything. For crying out loud, this sort of thing ought to be trivial to do, given the claims made about it.
No, not crazy; that's just your martyr chip talking. It's telling you that the only reason I am “rejecting“ what you say is because I'm dismissing the source and the messenger, not because it's unconvincing.
Not while I still have my strength you won't. I told you, it's very flattering but I'm not buttered that way. Sorry.
If your sole reason for being here is to preach, then leave now. This is a discussion board, not a pulpit. You're not going to find any prey around these parts.
I can't wait.
No seriously, I can't.
And without the book you'd have no way of knowing anything about this god, its nature or its character - even of concluding that it's a him. Let's put it this way:
If all scientific knowledge were to vanish in some cataclysm, at some point in the future it's reasonable to expect that most, if not all, of the same discoveries (fire, the wheel, gravity etc) and the principles behind them would eventually be rediscovered.
Conversely, if this book of yours and all knowledge of it were wiped from existence, your god would disappear forever.

In what way am I deceived, and who (if anyone) has been doing the deceiving? To what purpose?
Thank you. Oh, and if you could formulate your reply in your own words and not copypasta a storybook, that'd be great.
Dear Stimbo,
You obviously are very intelligent and have mastered the English language when compared to me.
Uh oh, soft soap. Get ready for the handjob of a lifetime.

Rev, you truly are the gift that keeps on giving! Ever thought of doing standup?
Rather be known as a modern day ambassador of the Lord sent to the atheistforum board with a message of hope and salvation.

I worship the Lord. The book speaks of Him.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
