According to the Old Testament God has a lot of names but three of them are the most frequent :El,Elohim,Jehovah.
According to scientific linguists who searched the Bible the name El is perhaps the oldest being the master of all Gods of the peoples living in the land of Cannan (now Israel) in the 13-12 th century B.C.
The ancient Israelites which settled in Canaan adopted El as their God but renamed him as their unique and almighty God with the name of Elohim,which is a plural form of the name El
Apparently in a latter period they adopted also the name Jehova a name whose meaning is still not decoded .
Fact is that in the Bible one finds some texts depicting an event ,like for instance the six days of creation of the world ,which are repeating themselves one including the name Elohim and the other with the name Jehovah.
