I don't even know what this response is aimed at, from what I wrote.
I offered my condolences, nothing more. I don't know this person, but I can empathize with his loss.
Are you attempting to make the claim that the only method of coping with grief is to turn to a god?
You are a severe hypocrite. You completely disregard his concerns about his younger brother, and heartfelt concern about his mother getting conned into a death cult for the fellowship that's in it. There are other ways to accomplish that same thing.
This isn't to say that the church couldn't help. It very well may. But I am always wary that their prime motivation will be to use this time of grief as an "in" for their deity (a deity who, allowing for presuppositions, by all means caused this situation to happen) rather than helping the woman through a tough time because that's the right thing to do.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
