Actually the Bible should be the first resort for any Christian, seeing how that is the basis of their belief.
That's fine, if they can first justify why the book qualifies as a firm enough basis or why the belief in the book is itself justified. Personally, I'd find the thought of pointing to mythology in response to a question about reality uncomfortably embarrassing.
