I would say that emotion is of course part of human nature, but the emotional protrayed alongside an argument has no bearing on the validity of that argument. It just goes to show how strong your opinion is, and what kind of response the subject matter causes in you.

I sometimes get complaints in real life that I'm not being emotional enough, when in a "debate" of sorts. I find that equally ludicrous. That's a kind of ad hom attack, really.
