My dad locked his keys in the car when I was a kid and was very angry to be paying $40 to get them out when the locksmith said, "well, there was a huge accident out on X street. If you were headed that way, maybe you lost your keys for a reason."
At the time my father was still angry about paying what he considered a ridiculous amount of money (it was 30+ years ago and after hours) and just scowled at the guy. However, the following morning he was busy apologizing to Jesus over the breakfast table for his shortsightedness and thanking god for "saving us from the big accident."
Even back then, when I was still a christard, I thought it a bit of a leap to a wanted conclusion.
