I was in the Army in the 1980s. I can't begin to describe how ill-advised it would be to try to "blow up" a military base.
To put this in perspective, the attack on the Consulate in Benghazi during the Obama administration was carried out by heavily armed, amatuer soldiers against a handful of poorly armed well-trained Marines in a lightly fortified non-military compound who were denied military back-up. That fight lasted hours. Attempting to take on even a small military base run by any first world power is the sort of thing that would win someone a Darwin Award...
