Trouble with that, is that our system generally has to wait until someone has done something maniacal in order to impose restrictions. We don't impose those same restrictions on the people who were standing in their immediate vicinity, nor do we impose those restrictions on every person in the country, again....even though there plainly -are- maniacs among us.
The reason that some of these cocksuckers can keep their bullshit argument alive is that, at it's core, there's a legitimate issue that due to being championed most vocally by nutbags...is being completely driven over. That doesn't mean they aren't cocksuckers, and it doesn't mean they haven't spun that out to proportions entirely divorced from reality. I -agree- that our gun laws should be more effective and better designed precisely -because- I am pro gun rights. We -shouldn't- be coming down on guns (and lets not pretend that we don't..we target specific firearms, like ar-15s, for example..not because of their prevalence in crime...but for some other, wholly unsubstantiated reason - bold faced...pandering lies).....but...if coming down on guns is the only way to get the job done, in the end, that's what we're going to do. It's as if we're throwing in the towel on legislating this intelligently..before we've even tried something so simple as enforcing the laws that we -do- have....or addressing the factors contributing to -gun crime-, which is distinct from -gun ownership-.......and setting fire to the whole field in frustration.
As far as the senator, specifically, broken clocks.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
