What is it about belief in God versus non-belief that you find so inspiring? The idea that the world was created specifically for your enjoyment? Or that you're a special creation above and beyond all other orders of being? I'm trying to understand the connection between your belief in God and the emotional fulfillment or security you draw from it. The idea that an all-powerful, all-knowing being cares for you? And if so, how does he (or she or it) care for you? In what way?
Well if I could prove that God doesn't exist that would be great because then I could go put myself out of my misery and not worry about my soul living on.
I think God cares for me by giving wisdom and guidance now and then, the right people in my life, and letting me recognize that there is no lasting joy in worldliness and immorality.
I wouldn't know all the blessings God has done. If I was suppose to get killed by a drunk driver but God prevented the drunk driver from getting into the vehicle, it isn't like it would dawn on me that my life had just been saved.
Also, if I didn't believe that there was a God, I'd steal all the time (like a did before my conversioin), I'd lie constantly, and I'd never be charitable toward others. Any crime would probably be okay in my eyes provided that people didn't catch me.
For people like me, fear of God is better for those around us.
