The study, widely reference in mainstream media, purported to show that more people would accept gay marriage, if only they could chat to an actual LGBT person. Once they were 'enlightened' by speaking to an LGBT, they would be far more likely to support gay marriage. Obviously you are meant to infer that opposition to gay marriage only exists within ignorant and uneducated circles.

So Your "lead scientist" is just a poli - sci student who embelished a paper. He's not a professor and he's not a scientist, and the paper he wrote is just a popular "human interest" study that according to you says that people will have more empathy with people they've met. Which is akin to a study saying that water feels wet.

You imply that because of this poli sci student's intellectual dishonesty, we should believe in Magic god fairies that whisk people off to a jewel encrusted heaven in the clouds or a fire pit in the center of the earth when we die. You imply that we should believe that because of sky god's tantrum he flooded the world over Mount Everest about 4000 years ago and that Cock-a-trices, satyrs, dragons, talking asses, burning bushes, and wall crumbling trumpets existed. We should believe that the sun circles the earth and can be stopped whenever sky god need an extra hour or so for his favorite team to play a little longer and that when he's tired of playing with us, he's going to send all the stars falling to earth like rain where we will have to hide in caves in order to not be crushed by them.
