Game of Thrones Season 6 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]

Interesting What Neil Gaiman wrote (I love his work as well).  Although I agree that Martin is not our bitch, and he has the option of never writing another page for Game of Thrones if that is what he wants to do (or not do), the fans did not force him to announce that he was working on the next book.  The fact that he comments frequently about how he will thwart fan desires tells me he is one of those people that has a love hate relationship with his fame.  He loves the money, and hates that people then think he has a responsibility to do what he said he would do.

Personally, artists (such as actors, writers, singers, etc) DO have some responsibility to their fans.  That is part of their job.  If Martin pisses off all of his fans to an extreme, who has he got to blame when no one reads his next "series" because we all know he won't bother finishing it?  If he makes a promise and then fails to deliver on that promise, why is he mad at the fans when he is the one that broke a promise?
He is onl hurting himself and his own reputation, yet somehow that is the fans fault....That would be similar to a butcher that sold the very best meat in town and was very popular, one day deciding not to sell ANYTHING, and getting pissed off that his customers don't remain loyal to him when he reopens a year later and tries to sell them pasta.  All the while telling the customers it is their fault he no longer sells meat.

You clearly didn't understand Gaiman one bit. I invite you to read what he wrote again, maybe slower this time.
