All users and posts identifiable behind the scenes of course, but no publicly visible usernames... and probably not a forum either per se but rather a place to write essays etc. So that all posts would be taken on their merits alone and there would be no possibility - barring people learning each other's writing styles or users actually identifying themselves in their posts - of popularity contests or peer pressure affecting responses. But you guys are saying this sort of thing already exists, EP with positive experiences of it and CD with negative - shitposting?
I was just thinking giving the average user on AF the freedom of posting anonymously wouldn't be the worse idea in the world, but apparently nobody agrees with me.
Ok.
Well I was thinking more along the lines of a dedicated site to it... where that was it's USP. I'm not sure how well it would integrate into a site - like this - that would be doing the other method as well. And I don't know if it would even be technically feasible for this site because it runs on pre-existing forum software... I forget the name... so though that may allow minor tweaks to the functionality of the forum, I don't know if this would require too much of an overhaul... but as you say, if other forums have that feature, this one might have as well. It would certainly be interesting if say just one forum, or one thread even, had that feature enabled if it exists.
