We do get those, and rattlers, often enough that I have to steer around them (and I do, snakes gotta make a living too) driving to work and whatnot.
The one I pictured, I pulled off to the side, stepped out, and kicked his tail a little, that got him scooting off'n the road.
If you see a rattler on the way home, maybe you should stop and pick it up for supper.
Carefully, of course.
I hear they make for good grillin'.
I don't do so much, myself. Much as I love fresh rattler, I don't care for gutting and disposing -- out here, entrails draw all kinds of critters. They are good eatin', though. Skin, gut, and section, lay the medallions over a hot grill fuelled by mesquite, and baste with a little butter, garlic powder, pepper, paprika, and salt to taste. Flip every two minutes three time each side. Serve with home fries and a fresh green salad, you're golden.
