My favorite style of hat would be something like this:
My preference would be to keep it at the same on the sides, just not as high and the front brim turned down slightly. I love the color and the distressed look of the suede leather as well. The top stitching of the hat should be exactly like this, narrow in front with a wider edge in the back.
Can you do something similar? I believe my hat size is a 7.
I see what you got there. That's more along the lines of leather working. The hats I do are fur felts that are stretched over vintage hat blocks with the brims reflanged over a vintage wooden brim flange, although some I rework back into Westerns of different styles. With you being a size 7, though, you can find western hats like that really cheap on ebay. Not only hats like that, but some very nice vintage fur felt hats at a cheap price too. With your hat size there's a lot of really nice stuff. I'm a 7 1/4 - 7 3/8. Finding those sizes and upward can get pricey, and it's hard to find vintage fur felts in good condition in those sizes too. You're one of the lucky ones who can get some great bargains on really nice vintage hats.
