Last week was a busy one. 3 shows, 5 days, 9 bands...
First a triple bill at HQ, a very small venue on S. Broadway in Denver. Immortal Guardian, Edge of Paradise, and Firewind. The opening band, despite having a christian metal sounding name, are not. They're rough around the edges, but show some promise. Not Bad. The Headliner, Firewind, was "leave the show early" bad. Honestly, I'd never heard of either of these bands before, and I'll live just as long, and die happier if I never hear from Firewind again. I'll keep an eye on Immortal Guardian, though. There may be something there eventually.
Than, there's the bad I went to see, Edge of Paradise:
They just released their third album late last year and are poised to really take off. Loads of talent here. Hopefully they can get better promotion and break through soon.
I love the small venue shows, though. The bands are so approachable. In fact, after their set, the lead singer came over to the merch table and started chatting like we were long lost friends. I even got a hug.
Great band who did a great set, but the opener and headliner dragged the show down.
