I do think that "handegg" is a more accurate name than "football" because most of the time players throw the ball - with their hands - and the ball is not even shaped like a foot, but more like an egg except much longer. However, I still call it a "football" because that seems to be the accepted word by Americans and that's what I always hear them calling. I didn't hear anyone call the ball "handegg," so I don't say that either. Maybe some people say that, but I'm not sure.
