Those who sin mortally 10 times have a deeper place in hell than those who sin only once. Those who repent of a contrite heart, and confess their sins, are absolved of all eternal punishment. Those who do proper penance for their sins receive the remission also of temporal punishment and can go to Heaven without Purgatory if they complete perfect penance for all their sins here on Earth; otherwise, said years of penance will need to be fulfilled in Purgatory.
