Saw a good poster yesterday about stress management. To cut a long story short it was about the weight of a glass of water. Then that weight relative to the amount of time you held the glass. The point being you couldn't hold it too long as you'd probably need medical attention.

Same with worries. Point is you've got to realise they're there and learn to put them down. To give yourself time to recover.

I think the trick is to not worry about worries. To not worry about worrying. And yet to still be aware of them so you aren't worrying without realizing it only to realize later on that you were being effected by them the whole time.

I think that's ultimately the best. To be aware about worries without worrying about them. Because Worrying about worries can really perpetuate the worries Tongue

To answer one of the original poster's questions about what good has religion ever done, I'd point out that there are a lot of religious charitable groups. Please note that I don't think this makes religion have any merit or that it makes religion special. There are plenty of secular charities. I don't agree with the statement that religion has done no good. However, I do agree with the statement that religion has done no good that could not be accomplished as effectively by secular means.
