Erm, firstly capitalism isn't a society, so that statement is completely nonsensical. Assuming you meant "economic system", then I'd argue it is already dead. There are no current societies that have capitalism as their economic system; anything that even remotely resembles capitalism is actually corporatism.

US Democrat isn't "liberal" anymore. It's a mix of different political views, from conservadems to liberal. Overall, it's center-right on the political scale, as you can see from Obama and Clinton.

Republican isn't "conservative" anymore. It's toggled over to fascism.
Edit to add: sorry to nitpick above but this is a sensitive topic for me as a liberal-libertarian believer in regulated capitalism and fair taxation.

I'm a bit sore about having no representation. I'm getting a little tired of holding my nose and voting for the center-right because that's as good as it gets.

The social system is always underpinned by the current economic system, but you're technically correct.

I think you could definitely make an argument capitalism is dead, it depends on how you define corporatism, but I'm inclined to agree.

I really should stop using the word "coporatism", though in Libertarian circles it is widely used as a synonym for the actual technical term "corporatocracy". So I define it like Wikipedia defines it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatocracy

Re OP:

Doesn't really matter. In the history of the world, when has a system of government not been corrupted by the people who installed it?

For that matter, what system would even be safe from the jealousy, greed and hostility of other nation-states??

Please. No matter what we dream up - we're fucked. Until the human race can advance intellectually about half-million years (give or take), we're just fucked.

How is corporatocracy different from fascism? I thought the definition of fascism was an autocratic government where corporate and government interests are merged and the rank and file are kept in line through fear.

Libertarian, mostly. I do go back and forth with some issues like welfare, though. I can't say I'm really sound in any political position.

Corporatocracy isn't inherently fascist. Free public elections can still take place in a corporatocracy for example, and freedom of speech / expression can be protected. Really the only common factor is the merging of the government and the economy, but even then corporatocracy doesn't take it to the same extremes as fascism. From the other side, fascism seeks for the government to control the economy and private business, whilst in corporatocracies, business seeks to control aspects of the government.

I think terms should be used accurately. Facism is not merely any non-communist, non-monarchist autocratic police state. It is a specific form of right wing, popularist, nationalist dictatorship.

The practical difference between corporatocracy and facscism is in established fascism, it is the autocratic government, often sponsored by and promoting a popularist ideology, that is by far the dominant constituent in the corporate government relationship. One might indeed argue that in practical menifestations of fascism in Italy and Germany, corporate interests are not suppressed outright only because fascism tend to desire a distinction from communism more or less for the sake of distinction than any real fundamental principle.

Were it not for the contemporary existence of communism, I have no doubt Nazis and fascist would both have gradually suppressed the captialist coorporations and replaced them with state owned and run enterprise broadly similar to what the communists actually implemented.
