Atheists who changed the world

Quote: a list of 20 atheists who changed the world.

Sorry Shell, not interested; A pointless exercise. There have been thousands of people who changed the world, for better or worst who also happened to be atheists. Nobody ever changed anything BECAUSE he/she was an atheist.

Atheism is simply a lack of belief god(s); nothing else is implied or may be inferred.

Sorry, honey. You don't know what the "exercise" is. Big Grin It is merely educational and must have a certain theme (atheism). I am in no way trying to prove anyone changed anything BECAUSE they were atheist. I'm just making a list with a theme.

I'll play along...

Norman Borlaug - Norman Borlaug worked extremely hard in third world countries, ranging from the harsh terrain of Mexico to war-torn countries in Africa, bringing with him the expertise and know-how to increase food crops dramatically, and by some estimates, he managed to stave off hunger and saved the lives of 1 billion people.

Linus Torvolds - invented the Linux operating system.

Pierre Boulez - changed contemporary classical music

Mark Zuckerberg
George Orwell
Noam Chomsky

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
