I never believed that everyone in Texas is crazy - I'm just glad it's in America...

(j/k, please don't shoot! Actually, I wouldn't mind if you did, really, but that's a longer story...)
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Thank you. I've been on other forums elsewhere that had a decidedly different feel, where it didn't feel like intelligent discussion outside already established social guidelines wasn't allowed and was responded to with hostility. It's frustrating when you're in an environment where you can't question yourself or your own beliefs; of at least it is for me when I'm the type of person who seems to thrive and grow the best when I can honestly have my beliefs examined and questioned.

Sometimes I think that, too. I'm just waiting for the state to break away from the union so I can move to Canada as a refuge.

I think what I'm finding is this: Houston, Dallas and Austin are cool. The only problem is that they're all surrounded by Texas.

May I ask if you have lived in Houston all your life or have lived in other places?

Also how is the economy there at the moment, because in the past I have thought about moving to either Dallas or Houston. Mainly because of the very cheap housing and petrol (gas) in comparison to every city in my home country of Australia.

No, actually, I was born up by Chicago, moved to Oklahoma when I was six, lived there until October 2009 and then moved to Houston.

The economy here is actually better than most places, probably due to the fact that oil prices are still extremely high and Houston's economy is still largely based on energy. I know the city is in recovery, but that seems to be true everywhere right now.

As for gas prices being low, that's true, but the city is very spread out and there isn't a very good mass transit system so you can expect to do a lot more driving than most other cities.

Yeah, we're both Texans, too. :p

Shouldn't be too surprising, though. I've met a lot of atheists in trans circles over the years. Still, when I venture into new internet forums, I'm usually kinda the token tranny. Nice to know I don't have to deal with that here.
