I'm speculating here, but if it wasn't for these business being greatly harmed by the legalization of marijauana, there would be no roadblocks to getting marijuana legalized.

You left out the police departments who would have their funding slashed from not having to enforce stupid drug laws.

Definitely, but they like to make false assumptions from an experiment in 1974, saying that it does kill brain cells. Even though, the subjects weren't given sufficient oxygen, so in terms, it killed the brain cells. Respectively, they blamed it on Marijuana, which was far from the point. And yet, in 2007 they did another experiment that showed that Marijuana increases metabolic rates in the brain (Preferably the Hippocampus), which contributes to cell division. But they prefer to blame not legalizing Marijuana on the terms that it has no medicinal benefits, and that it is harmful. But as you said, that's definitely a major factor that prohibits Marijuana from getting legalized...
