I think you could believe in a natural creator and still be an atheist; you could plausibly claim that the creator in this scenario is not a god.

I'm not saying I believe this scenario to be true (evidence or gtfo), but it's nigh-infinitely likelier to be true than, say, all-everything superperfect magical sky terrorist Yahweh. It is something which, conceivably, we could do ourselves one day.
