How is life for you
#11
RE: How is life for you
I didn't hear about god in my textbooks. I heard about God from family, but not much. I knew my mom believed in god. I knew the basics, mostly from television, as I certainly didn't listen at church when my aunts had me for a weekend. I think there was a time where I just accepted it as something, like I accepted ghosts as something, but certainly was in no position to believe any of it at any point of my life, so, whether I am happy or not is irrelevant. I'm never with god, so there is no basis for comparison.

I'm not sure that not believing in God has any influence over my life. Actually I guess that's the whole point.

This is your life and you are free to chose the way you ant to live. In our text books and during our education period we heard a lot of time about God. Do you think that it is normal and is that the way to live as you are living your life now. Feel free to share your thoughts.

We have the gist of the concept of god(or gods) from what believers tell us, its just that we don't find any evidence to believe such a being exists.

Other than that, I lead a pretty much normal life, I like working, being with the family and fret about bills just like anyone else.

What about it?? When was this written?? Does it have any relevance to what we know NOW? why should it stop you from questioning?

For me personally I am far to busy being ME as hard as I can to be the best that I can that all the clap-trap flung at me during my years as a child-student pales into insignificance bordering on stupidity of my tutors.

My life is pointless but I find life itself interesting. I spend my days reading, drawing, going on the internet, playing with my cat, smoking, sleeping, and watching documentaries on netflix. Go to friends' houses. Talk to people. That's a normal, non-eventful day.

When I stopped believing in God, I was drenched in depression and incorrectly correlated my mental state to a lack of faith. But when I got over that I was like, oh wait, if I'm right there's no eternal judge, consciousness is finite, and thus when I'm dead whether I fuck up or not will not matter.

What "organized" system is that?

With all the impact craters around - and Earth has been hit many times, too - it would seem that if someone is "managing" it they don't know jack shit about orbital mechanics.

I dunno who said that, should it really matter? Besides, you don't know the whole system. You are shooting yourself in the foot right there.

Who cares what somebody else says? Why should I give that quote any credence? People can be very smart, and still be wrong about certain things: I'm only required to keep my beliefs internally consistent, not update them to match the beliefs of others. I'm contingent on the truth, not popular opinion.

By the way, are the all caps your doing, or did the person quoted scream that? Tongue

The system is a mix of organization and destruction. Oddly enough, it seems to do all that shit by itself. We do not see or measure God's hand moving planets around and smashing asteroids together to create new objects, even at a quantum scale.

I have the company of good friends, the affection of children, some good causes to believe in, and a job that let's me spend some time on the internet...I'm pretty happy. It's easy if you can get out of the habit of dwelling on what you don't have, and into the habit of appreciating what you do have.
