Meteor hits Russia

RE: Meteor hits Russia
For the record, I find very little in life that can't be met with an X-Files quote. I'm that sort of geek.

When I was like 8 my sisters and I saw a bunch of fireballs. We figured it was:

Then I went to science club to find out what it actually was. Turns out the explanation was far more satisfying than the one we had.

I know it was only a show, and for people who saw it as just that, that's fine. But I have a really fucking hatred for that show because I knew really ignorant people who took it as true or a possibility.

Far too many people took that show as a reality, maybe not you, but far too many.

Every time I'd visit my friend's house while they were watching that, they'd make comments about "it could happen" and all I wanted to do is shout "IT'S JUST A FUCKING TV SHOW YOU FUCKING MORON"

Even today, the same superstitious crap about Big Foot and ghost hunters is still poisoning people's minds. When taken as a mere escape and entertainment I have no problem. But when people take that as true, I want to pull my hair out.

I feel the same way about Atlas Shrugged. I rather enjoyed the book for what it was. The people who feel it's so real that they pay to have "Who is John Galt?" posted on billboards and shit... they make me sick.

Hate the ignorance, not the show.

Watching ancient aliens did make me want to punch myself in the face. I figured changing channel and going to make some lunch was a better idea.

Don't get me started on Ayn Rand, because of that stupid bitch to this day I have to deal with rethuglitards and Dumbitarians.

Plato too. He used to be my hero until Dawkins pointed out that he was probably most responsible for the concept of utopia perfection woo because of his idea of "essence", Plato thought by merely questioning(NOT TESTING) if you thought about something you could find its "essence". Humans took of with that meme and religion and politics to this day still clings to that bullshit. Read the opening to "The Greatest Show On Earth". Dawkins does a better job at explaining why Plato fucked up so bad.

But to the religious who might read this, look at that video. THAT is reality. THAT is what killed the dinosaurs. There is no magical puppeteer vs a magical villain with a red pitchfork battling over the neurons in our brains.

You want reality, that meteor strike is reality, not your mentally concocted fantasies.

The universe is full of violence and hostile to biological life. We are here because of luck and conditions, not magic. And violent motion manifested this planet over billions of years and violence in a meteor strike can take us out too. And eventually no matter what ALL life will die on this planet and the core will go cold and the sun will die and the universe will continue without any fucking record of us.

So if someone here can post a link to that video, please do.

gosh, you are such the nihilist
"This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Hahaha, yeah the show is a real disaster.
I still believe it's just an attempt from History Channel to attract younger audience..or to advertise for "Prometheus part 2"...

The History channel went downwards since it was bought by Rupert Murdock.

Ever since then, they have been making shit "documentaries" about such importent historical things like "Hillbillies", "Truckers" and whatever the fuck else.

For good documentaries, watch HBO, BBC and arte France
