But to the religious who might read this, look at that video. THAT is reality. THAT is what killed the dinosaurs. There is no magical puppeteer vs a magical villain with a red pitchfork battling over the neurons in our brains.

You want reality, that meteor strike is reality, not your mentally concocted fantasies.

The universe is full of violence and hostile to biological life. We are here because of luck and conditions, not magic. And violent motion manifested this planet over billions of years and violence in a meteor strike can take us out too. And eventually no matter what ALL life will die on this planet and the core will go cold and the sun will die and the universe will continue without any fucking record of us.

So if someone here can post a link to that video, please do.

gosh, you are such the nihilist

Oh God or Thor or Captain Kirk, please. This is just a fancy way of accusing me of saying we should all act like robots.

Actually, I think he was trying to say you were being negative. I can't help but think positively, that we are still here despite all the odds and that this is a thing to be celebrated.

Also, you are one intense motherfucker. Again, hate the individual who can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality - not the work itself.

I hate being accused of being negative. Since when does accepting reality negative? I am going to die someday, that does not mean I want to die, it merely means I will. Should I pretend I wont die because I don't want to die?

Damn right I am one "intense motherfucker". We've got nuts all over the world making all sorts of absurd claims, are you suggesting no one ever get offended? I think assholes who slam planes into buildings and the assholes who support those nuts should be offended.

And you are making the same mistake I see theists make. I can hate a claim without hating the person making the claim I hate, otherwise I would have to live on an island and reject my Catholic mother and my believing co-workers and friends.

There's negativity and being firm in your convictions. The conviction that no supernatural shit could possibly ever happen or exist because you happen to have strong opinion that it can't for some reason. Agnosticism that's a better way of doing it.

Don't allow your personal views to turn into hatred against that believe. Don't also let other peoples' believes offend you.

In my case, I know that my god is greater than anything, so if a person insulted him , it wouldn't offend me ; I know it's not true. Notice that I exploded once when people insulted -ME-, when it was personal, but from a point of view of believe ? meh, god is greater than anything else.

You should also have a similar attitude towards your believes. If you have a high confidence in atheism, then other believes shouldn't offend you.

Try to enjoy life with its contradictions : ) sometimes I wonder what would happen if atheists didn't exist ? believe me it would suck, life will be boring.

Too many believes & different POVs means constant excitement and new stuff. It's not something to feel offended from.

Also, ignoring everything without taking the chance to look at it might get you into trouble.

Please don't post anything back if you see this as a personal attack. I'm sorry if you're offended from this post.

And you think this is my first rodeo? I've been debating online for 12 years, this dodge is not new to me.

No, there is a difference between not knowing something and assuming just to assume because it sounds nice. Lots of things we might wish to be true does not mean we assume.

Secondly, agnostic is not a stand alone word. It can go in front of atheist. I am an agnostic atheist.

I am a flat out atheist in regards to past and current claims. Nothing presented so far is credible. But strictly from a semantic sense since I have not lived the future, while finding it highly unlikely to billions of places to the right of the decimal .000000000000000000000000000000000000000001, it is true I do not know the future.

But I am not going to lose any sleep discarding claims of invisible friends anymore than I need to worry about the future as far as pink unicorns existing.

"It could happen" yea and monkeys could fly out of my butt since I haven't lived the future, but it would be stupid of me to worry about that "just in case".

RE: Meteor hits Russia
Just to be clear, I spend my own amount of time negating claims and pointing out the truth. Too much, if you ask my boyfriend, who finds no time for 'arguing on the internet'. And never did I find a lie or made up story to be preferable to the truth. It's not that "accepting reality" equates to negativity - it was merely the tone, and I was merely commenting on my perception of what I thought he was perceiving.

I get angry and offended by anti-vaxxers, and I get angry and offended by those who maim, injure and kill for the sake of religion. I just thought it was a little much to hate a TV show for causing people who already couldn't tell the difference between fantasy and reality to be even more ridiculous. Why should we (the reality embracing) be punished for it by possibly NOT having shows like that just to avoid these problems? Not that you said it shouldn't exist - simply that others who have hated such things WOULD suggest something along that line. They do all the time for things like religion and the Bible.

Dont assume I do. I already said and will say again. I am capable of hating a claim without hating an individual who might have a claim I hate. I hate the hijackers of 9/11. I do not hate Malala, even if I hate the fact she claims to have an invisible friend. I consider her a hero to humanity, that does not mean I have to like or value her belief in Allah. I only have to value her human rights, not everything she might claim.

Same with my family and friends. I love my mom, she take very good care of me and I would be on the streets without her. But, and being a former Catholic myself, I do hate the fact that she thinks eating a cracker will save her sole. I love my Mormon co worker, but I hate the fact that her religion postulates stupid crap like golden tablets and magic underwear.

It does not mean I want law abiding citizens arrested because they say things that make me want to pull my hair out. It does not mean I will disown family or friends who believe these things. It just means on that ONE SUBJECT I hate the claim, not the person.

I am well grounded in the reality that I do not live on an Island. But that does not mean claims deserve taboo status and it does not mean they don't have the right to claim it. At the same time I have the right to call bullshit on the claim.

Not everything from the supernatural realm, if it exists for real, seems to be necessarily nice though. And of course you could always end up in some kind of hell which isn't very nice at all. I don't see why this "other realm" can't exist seeing apparently some weird shit has always been experienced by some people somewhere in the world. And of course we quite know why the universe exists or exactly what happens when you die, so there's plenty of scope there for some actual other worldly or extra dimensional shit. Whether any religion has got it all nailed down I'm much less sure, and there are many of them all saying completely things.

I don't think religious people are wishing God to be real any more than atheists wish he isn't, they just think he is.

I'm an agnostic agnostic then, there could well be a God or something like that, there are some cracking good arguments on that side of the fence I'm sitting on.

The concept of God seems credible to me, miracles slightly less so but it depends whether there is an actual supernatural interactive realm or not. There could be but I wouldn't know. I can't say I've seen a ghost or anything like that, even if I did I wouldn't be sure what I was seeing. But sure some people do experience some stuff, human experience isn't necessarily uniform.

Why does it have to be in "another realm"? Is this reality not weird enough for you?
