Then,

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Kent_Hovind...ssertation

Quote:Hovind's dissertation (or "book" as he likes to call it) rejects the formal, technical style expected of most mainstream Ph.D dissertations and other high-level academic work. Patriot Bible University does allow "a popular writing style" to be used. The opening lines of Hovind's dissertation demonstrate this quite suitably:

Hello, my name is Kent Hovind. I am a creation/science evangelist. I live in Pensacola, Florida. I have been a high school science teacher since 1976. I've been very active in the creation/evolution controversy for quite some time.

Many armchair commentators immediately came to the same inescapable conclusion: "This is not a dissertation, this is a letter to Santa."[3]

Although Hovind gives thanks to his typist, the document is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors which reflect poorly on his credentials as a high school teacher.

I use to give copies of all his videos to everyone on my tennis team when I was a teen.

My parents still donate money to his organization every month.

Irreligiosophy did some great episodes on his work that were quite humorous. They're probably still on the website in case anyone is interested.

This site should tell you all you can stomach about this single cell animal. Though Dino Sr is locked out of harm's way for now, his eldest progeny Eric is still parroting the creationist mantra from his dad's old scripts, so the information at that site is still sadly relevant.

The only really good thing to come about as a result of this pretend doctor is the unit of measurement of creationist wrongness, the Hovind. The blog at the end of that link gives a detailed breakdown of how the Hovind Scale works, but a useful online calculator can be found here. I was going to save these for when we had a real blood-'n'-snot creationist on our hands, but now seems as good a time as any to post this stuff.

Regarding the Moondust claim, it's fairly well known now that the woefully misnamed Answers in Genesis published a disclaimer article of Arguments Creationists Should Avoid - guess what's right at number one, on their list of "Arguments that should never be used"? Ok, they still manage to get things totally arse about face, but at least they seem to be paying lip service to cleaning up the creationist act.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Ah, man... I'm getting chucked faeces by a newcomer to the conversation on Facebook. Here's his "introduction":

"evolutionists are very similar to modern day nutritionists. they just make stuff up as they go along. I'm not saying SOME christians dont. but most of them dont count. the fact that most christians in america belive in evolution and invading countries and slaughtering children is "the will of god" "god wills it" "god bless america" just proves my point. bible view, 1 god made the universe and everything in it. 2 jesus is the son of god and fulfilled the"law and the prophets" (this means that after jesus we are not "required" to sacrifice for sins or stone other people for sinning. 3 jesus' new laws, love god, love me and love your neighbor as yourself. now a "real" christian (aka David Livingstone) would ultimately try to live up to that. compare him to darwin? Livingstone discovered much of africa, abolished much of african slavery, helped build roads, schools and hospitals all over Africa. not to mention inspiring many others to do the same. Darwin? besides coming up with and idea (He wasnt the only one either) that fish eventually turned into people, did jack all. case in point about evo's being similar to modern nutritionists: having the discussion with a very devout evolutionists the other day he explained to me in very complex scientific terms (after i pointed out the earth would have been inside the sun billions of yrs ago) that sun sun indeed does get smaller, but then for reasons unkown (as usual) it just, GETS BIGGER AGAIN. (i call bull) modern nutrition: a diabetic info page says that some diabetes is aquired after many years of eating too much high suger foods. then it goes on to reccomend that a healthy diet for diabetics is lots of grains, lots of fruit, lots of vegetables (Like corn and potatoes) and low fat yoghurt etc. Again i call bull. also on hovind i dont think it matters wether or not he does or did have 3 degrees in whatever. like tony said it just makes sense. also i dont think he ever studied electronics, but the again that doesnt mean he doesnt know how to change a light bulb does it?"

He didn't study electronics, but that doesn't mean he can't change a lightbulb?! My heart breaks for the intellectually disabled.
