So you are saying animals are not transported to centralized slaughterhouses? I was told it wasn't even legal to slaughter animals (except a capped # of chickens) on the farm, for everything else you need special facilities (i.e. transport).

Yeah, my dad loads them up in a cattle trailer and drives them 30 miles to a mennonite owned and operated processing shop. One of my very best friends from high school works there as a butcher.

That's not a choice and you know it. Not all of us maybe, but certainly most of us can choose to live on either diet, it's not a choice between living and dying (except for the food animal).

Eh... what? Strawman... I think (?) If you're talking about two consenting adults then your example has no (negative) consequences for anyone, quite the opposite to animal agriculture.

Well you will be happy to hear that this supposed gruesome aspect of making me a steak has never been witnessed by my eyes. The cows spend 99% of their life wandering around pastures munching on grass, eating healthy feed we put out for them, innoculated and protected from parasite, disease, and predators, then a quick trip to the processing center and swift bolt to the head.

This thread has totally convinced me that I will force my kids not to eat meat, even when they are old enough to decide for themselves. I'm unsure how I should punish them if they disobey me. What do you fine people suggest?
