The fine tuning argument:
The probability that the universe exists that would support a Santa makes the whole thing pointless if he doesn't exist. 
Surely no one will dispute the eye witness account of Miracle on 34th Street.

Wait - if I buy presents, doesn't that show my lack of faith in Santa?
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method. 
Only those who believe with no visual evidence will get gifts. If you don't get one, must be that you had a doubt. There will be naughty ones who will try to convince you that he is fake, and their arguments will seem great. Don't fall in the trap, because the gifts are reserved only for a small group that remains believing until the end. If you we're good, and you believed, and still didn't get anything... Be glad! You are being tested in order to make you a better believer. Be thankful, for Santa only tests those he loves.

Millions of people believe in Santa. They can't all be wrong.
I'm not nice simply because I want presents from Santa. Its the Christmas spirit in my heart that makes me nice.

Okay, the god belief is a completely different proposition. It is completely unrealistic, makes no logical sense and has no evidence for it whatsoever. Belief in Santa is something completely different. And he doesn't actually zoom around the planet with flying reindeer. That's a metaphor for how he can be with us in an instant, in spirit, and the flying reindeer represent his connection to nature. |
