Well, I'll probably get a Pogoplug rooted and linux installed, but the file server is taking longer than expected, including having to do some old skool case modding using a dremel. I guess you can give a girl good hardware, but you can't make a hardware girl be good.


I'm dumping the planned 3 TB primary / tertiary pair and putting that combo in the bedroom htpc. What's left is to crack a couple external hard drives, matched pair, for a final, high speed RAID 1 array, and then pile everything in the case and install Home Server 2011.

As for me? It's climbing to 37 degrees C here and I think this might be a great time to go out and kill some spiders...poor things, they aren't very good at catching flies

I had an attack of the stupids and was mean and nasty when I should have been building bridges. So I got kicked, for cause.

Like the song says, "Life's like a firework, you're only lit once, and you must stand and radiate correctly."

I was a firework that radiated incorrectly, and now it is done.

The bad news is you no longer get to contribute in that way. The upside is you no longer have to. Guess I get my contribution fix by teaching. Not really looking to give a lot more. But everyone probably benefits some for having an opportunity to be needed/appreciated.

I get plenty of kick by being smart, eloquent, and persuasive. I can be very aggressive and combative, but most people forgive my occasional excesses and stroke me plenty. I'm well liked in my local atheist and humanist communities, and well respected. On IRC, where they see more of my cheek, I'm not always as well liked, but people there know my abilities and give me room to be who I am naturally, even if some of them call for many a wambulance. As noted before, my homies and I on IRC / chat are a cut-throat, wickedly snarky and mean-spirited bunch. It's where I can let my hair down and just let it all hang out. I have plenty of venue for finding full expression of my talents, energies, and quirks.


(ETA: And I'm finding my weekly group therapy sessions to be another place where I can let it all hang out, sharing the pains and perverse pleasures of coping with chronic mental illness with others walking the same road, and sharing the same vicious humor about it.)

Aarrrgh! It never ends.


I built a make-shift shelf for perfume and jewelry for the bathroom, and stuck it up on the tile with removable tape. If I'd just put perfume and jewelry on it, everything would have been fine. But there were other things on the vanity that I wanted out of the way, so I put those on it as well. Well, the weight of the extra stuff was too much, causing the shelf to detach and fall. I picked everything up and put only the perfume back, grateful that nothing got broken. Now I go to get something, and I realize that something did get broken. My most expensive bottle of perfume has a big chip out of the bottom and seems to be leaking.
