What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Went to the Chiropractor today. Still feel in pain and do not feel like she even did a good job of diagnosing the pain. Got a TheraBand for my trouble.

My understanding is that chiropractors are only good for specific types of injuries and can actually do more harm than good when it comes to other types of injuries. Any truth to that? My brother claims that chiropractors do him no good. Then again he insists on eating percocets instead of losing weight, which is what his doctor told him to do to help with his back problems.

Speaking of drug addiction, I'm high on Kratom right now and watching some youtube videos. Going to sit down and read in a bit... currently reading Papillon by Henri Charriere.

I've just had the one visit, so I can't really assess their efficacy with regards to certain kinds of injuries, and given how my issue is intense, randomly moving pain that happens a propos of nothing, and thus might not actually be an injury, chiropractors may not even be the one to deal with.

@Rev. Rye

Ever try kratom for the pain?

I reached my weight loss goal of 200 today at 199.8, down nearly 170 pounds.

Very impressive.

Well done!

Checking up on the commentary for Battlefield Earth to see if they were going to explain why they thought it would be a good idea to have the cavemen raid Fort Knox (reminder: The Psychlos are obsessed with gold, but somehow, after a millennium of ruling the world, they didn't even touch Fort Knox), and sure enough, Roger Christian and Patrick Tatopoulos only bring up subject when the cavemen actually raid it, and they only talk about the fucking ART DIRECTION. For the record, even L. Ron Hubbard had the sense to figure out that Fort Knox would be one of the earliest places they'd go. Evidently, this is a man who had no idea what he was doing. Or rather, a very nebulous idea of what he was doing that he seemed to be doing a combination of a comic book movie and a story about how people should read. Yes, really.

Had a bit of a scare yesterday that landed me in the emergency department at the hospital. Could have required emergency surgery if the ultrasound went the wrong way but it didn't so treatment is much less shitty.

Well, it looks like the yellow Theraband tube I got at the Chiropractor's just vanished into the æther. After searching my home, my car, and even taking a stop at the store where I work, the last place I know I had it, I am convinced it no longer exists.

This week in the Deep Hurting Project: Stephen King's Cell, the only Stephen King movie with so horrible a reception that it actually made the list. Yes, worse than The Dark Tower. And like One Missed Call, the worst film in the Project yet, it also includes Cell Phones as a horror-making device. But it also has this:

Yes, they play the "Trololo" song in the movie.
For six fucking minutes.

And it turns out that next week’s entry is actually a lock: The Last Airbender. Thanks to my decision to alternate genres, and this being the only remaining sci-fi/fantasy film left on the list (except for NeverEnding Story 3, which will have to wait until I see 1 and 2, which will happen sooner than later, and Mortal Kombat Annihilation, which is currently checked out with a due date of 04-08-19, so I’ll likely never get to it, and also, I didn’t see the original of that film either.)

As anyone who's been following the Deep Hurting Project knows, (all fuck knows how few of you), I got The last Airbender for the Deep Hurting Project at the library. While I was checking it out at the self-check, my Dad noticed it and here's a rough approximation of the dialogue:

DAD: "oh, that's good."
RYE: "Well, the series is good. This isn't."
DAD: "Really?"
RYE: "Yeah, this is the live-action adaptation of the series. It's a lot worse than the series."
DAD: "How much worse?"
RYE: "Bad enough to make the Deep Hurting Project."
DAD: "Oh!"

This is a rough approximation, I don't remember the exact words, but I think that's the gist of it. Probably interspersed with grunts of frustration from trying and failing to get the machine to check out the DVD I chose of Lady From Shanghai.

And, just for full disclosure, this is the only Shyamalan film bad enough to make TVTropes' So Bad It's Horrible/Film list, and thus, the only one to make the Project. Lady in the Water, The Happening, and After Earth have just enough entertaining shit to be considered "So Bad It's Good," and all his other films (except maybe The Sixth Sense, and maybe the obscure Wide Awake) are merely polarising. And I will be a bit kinder to him, because, shockingly enough, the things that make this film shit may not actually have been his fault this time around.
