Do you follow any other athiest-religious sites/forums?

RE: Do you follow any other athiest-religious sites/forums?
I post here, TTA, and the Ravingathists. com.

There seemed to be more activity at the Ravingatheists a year ago, or so. But lately it's been pretty dead. Still worth checking out.

I used to try to post on Christian forums a could of times. But, even though I was posting for honest discussion, never cussed, always polite, I would invariably get banned.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

So, it's nice to see that the mods here want to keep a good and friendly site going for everyone. The other sites are good/fun/informative also, but I guess because this is the first site I found, I tend to stay here mainly.

Wow. You consider this friendly? I like this place for being so active, but it really strikes me that any atheist-hating theists who show up here would have their negative stereotypes reenforced by the behavior on this forum.

Thanks for the links. It's always good to have options. Some folks go bonkers when someone dares post something out of their comfort zone. Haven't seen that here so far.

I have an account there but I check it so infrequently that the amount of new posts to wade through is just too much for me to handle.

I waste enough time here, I don't need another forum.

(I lurked in several for years before I decided on joining this one after the other forum I frequented closed.)

The operative phrase there is "atheist-hating theists". Generally, people get as good as they give, here and in the real world. You only have to compare the overall treatment of the respect-worthy theists such as Rayaan, Jacob, Drich, G-C, Fr00dy, and the like to the more (shall we say) fire-'n'-brimstone pulpit pounders we tend to attract. It's worth noting as well that the Staff counts theists among their number, now and in the past.

Essentially, the message of the forum, just as with any group, is that respect has to be earned; and if you shit on others, don't come crying about unfair treatment when you yourself get shit upon.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I was posting at thethinkingatheist until the douchebag admin banned me on a false charge. I used to hang out at xpastor's place but it kinda died out.

You were banned for having 3 accounts and using them as sock puppets.

No, that was the false excuse for banning me. Or perhaps the mistaken reason for banning me. I don't know how exact the procedure for determining sock puppets is. But, as I was just getting into it with kingdouchebag a few days before and didn't get a warning, I'm leaning toward false excuse. Tongue

Stimbo said it best. But, yeah, friendly and welcoming. I think everyone gets a fair chance and your experience will be dependent on how you treat others. If a theist comes here to have a healthy debate, that's great. If a theist comes here to preach and chastise, he/she will have a more difficult time of it.

I've seen mean spirited comments flung from both "sides" and maybe that just means we all can do a better job of leaving our egos at the door. I dunno.
