Friends trying to 'save' me

I think its important to remember that you're not required to react or respond in any way. If she keeps on insisting you can just smile and politely ignore everything she says. You don't have to say anything, really. This is more about her than you, I think.
Friends do and say stupid things all the time. Some time ago a friend of mine became completely obsessed with a woman who wasn't interested in him. He was borderline delusional and thought if he just said or did the right thing... In the end I understood I just had to listen to him babble until he wore himself out.

I haven't asked you to give up your religion."

Or something to that effect.

I'm KIDDING. I'm kidding. Don't hit anybody.

But seriously punch her in the face metaphorically. Some people don't know when to let it go and they need a verbal punch in the face ...

"I have told you several times and very politely that I'm not interested in going to your silly church. Now, you're just being pestering and rude. Christianity is stupid and those who practice it are gullible twats."

One of these friends of mine is rather religious herself, and since has been constantly dogging me to come along with her to her church. She says you don't even have to believe in God, and that it's more for the community aspect of religion. I really don't want to go, and I've told her nicely quite a few times but she's insistent. I really feel like she thinks it's her personal mission to save me from atheism. I don't want to hurt her feelings as she does mean well (I can only assume at least), and she is a very good friend of mine (she says my giving up religion will not change our relationship in any way, and so far it hasn't so thats good at least). I just don't know how to tell her I'm not interested nicely anymore.

Has anyone else had similar problems with friends after leaving faith? I am starting to feel like I should just go once, and then let her know it's not for me; but I'm really trying to distance myself completely from religion as much as possible right now. Considering my condition I don't want anything to possibly place a delusion in my head again about religion; and I don't know how to say THAT to her without sounding like I'm straight calling her deluded (even though that's what she is in my opinion it's not polite and I'd like to remain as polite as possible considering she's been a good friend of mine since high school).

Any tips for doing this nicely?

you know when i came out of my shell with atheism to one my my close friends ive known for years, he was okay with it, but when i was considering myself as a satanist (laveyan), he was like in shock of me worshiping the devil (which were his assumptions based on what his pastor told him, in lack of his own research about the subject). so since then he hasnt really messaged me, in rare occasions i have to msg him to get to him but whatever. As for your question, just keep explaining why you dont believe and just be like, "i appreciate what you are trying to do but i have my beliefs and i would appreciate that you would respect them and dont push yours on mine"

it isn't in our nature to think of a God, it is in our nature to seek answers and the concept of God is most influenced in this world.

What I would do is just simply not ever agree to go with them to church. All you have to say when they bring it up is, "No thanks," and just leave it at that. If they go on about it further, just give them some sort of nonverbal indicator that you have no desire to continue on that topic of conversation. If they are dicks anyway and insist on talking about it more, then I would recommend dumping them as your friends. Because fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that shit.

Can't read the words, but I'm sure it's a cool shirt.
