American military in afghanistan

Soviet invasion of afghanistan was pretty stupid I agree. But there were ruins before. There were ruins after. The war was going on before soviet entered. And soviet build hospitals, schools etc and was pretty nice to people. My mother had 2 afghan friends studying in university.

And the massacres are BS. As for america supporting taliban they did it to fuck with soviets not to protect muslims from massacres which didn't happen.

I think both invasions are stupid. But you think only the soviet one is. So I wonder how you justify american invasion. The "taliban will fuck the world if we don't get in" hypothesis doesn't sound very accurate to me.

I never said it wasn't stupid! All wars are stupid. No one should be killing each other for such shitty ideas.

USA made the mistake of abandoning Afghanistan, and not help rebuilding after the Soviet War. And no, you have to admit in any war, that there will be massacres. I do not care what anyone has said. We are humans, and do not perform well under stress.

They gain the support of America due to that war.

If russia would support taliban now you would get pissed. So why did you do exactly the same in the 80's?

The Taliban did not arise until after the War, which was during their rebuilding state. The United States supported the Mujahideen, which some of the leaders of the Taliban were members.

Russia would never support it as they have issues with the Islamic world as well. Chechens are not friendly with their religious ideology.

I did not invade. Why are you pointing the finger at one USA citizen.

That would be the same as me asking/blaming you for invading Afghanistan in the 80s.

I believe we invaded Afghanistan as a political point. The Taliban was protecting Bin Laden, and the Taliban was the official leadership of the country. The country felt threaten, and it could not afford to allow that leadership to be reckless, and to save face.

Just like Putin does not want to lose Ukraine to EU/NATO.

I think America should have never moved to Iraq, and focused on getting Bin Laden, and left.

There is a gray to this. You cannot have absolutes in the Geo Political world.

Now you're making excuses.

Not making excuses. Just stating you want an absolute. Just like Russia should have never invaded Ukraine.

You can always find a reason for and a reason against. You have to weigh yourself in terms are the reasons for negating the reasons against.

I gave you my answer. Again, I am not in a leadership position to direct my countries policies.
