I've Decided

RE: I've Decided
It is important to note that soldiers of god have always emulated the unloving and amoral monster they worship. It must take a special kind of twisted mind to think one's words and actions are just merely due to a rather misconceived notion of what an omnipotent divinity entails.

Why do this to yourself? Is that really what god thinks of you, that you are a wretched and loathsome sinner? When I was a Christian I never thought of him that way, that doesn't conform to the idea that god is a loving, kind, and patient father-figure. Think of god as an actual human parent, and imagine him telling another parent such things about you, and the look of disdain on his face. Is that how you want to imagine god? Or more like the parent who sees his child feeling miserable and takes him in his arms and comforts him?

God should be the parent who takes you out for ice cream when your error cost your little-league team an important game. He shouldn't be the parent who drives you home while cursing your incompetence and wondering aloud what he had done to be burdened with such a miserable brat.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

After much prayer and soul searching I have again realized the awesome power of the almighty God Jehovah! I return with renewed strength and most importantly, the full righteous impenetrable armour of Jesus Christ!

Admittedly the devil used your logic and reason to foil me and cause me to doubt my faith, but this time I am a soldier of Christ and invincible against any attack!

Question though,
Why do u guys keep posting the little green guy shaking his fist at me?
Is he supposed to be an angry alien or sickly or something?

I am an ex born-again Christian, and I too have been where you are right now. The doubting. And you know what? This little moment that you think is clarity, will only last that long. That imprenetrable armour of christ, it won't shiled you, not truly. Not only because it doesn't exist, but because it's human nature to doubt and then jump back thinking you've come out the other side.

Eventually, (hopefully) the doubt will overtake you and your eyes will open to the truth. This religion is a lie (as they all are). I still can't believe how much of my life I wasted putting faith before common sense and logic. How cruel was your god to give us a brain but not permission to use it. Once you use your head and gain that common sense, you will literally see how what you believed in was a bunch of bullshit. And that will be the day you experience TRUE freedom. All religion does, Christianity especially, is make us feel like worthless idiots. All the uncertainty, guilt and frustration of trying to get to heaven but being "unworthy" keeps us slaves.

I'm so glad I chose logic.

Poe says what?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I can't shake these doubts I must leave this place before reason destroys my faith.

If my Lord wishes that I return he will give me the renewed strength.

Ah, I see. I thought you were afraid you'd failed at converting us. The real danger is that we might convert you . . . Yes that can happen. People do lose faith.

Think about it though. The phrase says it all "to lose faith." I might lose faith in my husband in the sense that I might think he was not the man I thought he was, but I wouldn't lose faith in his existence. If you know god is there, you don't need faith in his existence.

Faith, to paraphrase Mark Twain, is giving yourself permission to believe what is not so. Praying for faith is begging to be allowed to con yourself.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

In the New Testament Jesus often warns of Hell and it seemed that I could be the same sort of example. That in some small way I could show u the path the way my Jesus Christ did. That was my pride and to my shame - my sin. I have let down my savior and I regret causing this much wrath.

I will not attempt to bring you to The Lord as I am unworthy to bring his message to you.

I am a foolish human born with a sinful nature. Try not to judge my Lord for my prideful error. He is great and I am small and loathsome in his eyes.

Well... you got the FOOLISH part right. Give yourself a break, there are another billion fools just like you that worship Iron-age comic books and some fictional blonde-haired blue-eyed Middle-Eastern dude (because we all know they have those traits) who's only fictional accomplishment is pissing people off and dangling from a cross. I think you might need to wipe your slate clean and start over by, maybe picking up a copy of "Tom, Dick, and Jane." At least there is alot more truth in that book.

he is powerful and creates doubts

Lord Jesus Christ destroy this demon among us that I may be used as your humble servant, clear of mind and clad in the armor of God.

That's just a little prayer for all of us

Maybe you should embrace Satan and have a couple of shots of tequila with him and sell your soul for a life of kick-ass drugs, endless virgins who love it doggy-style, Black Sabbath music for eternity... What's the problem? Maybe when you see Jesus you should give him a big old kick in his blond-haired blue-eyed NUTS (if he has any).

This guy is going to give us some mileage after all. Eye of God, think about Reason v blind faith.....Reason is ..reasonable. You can weigh it up and come back and think about it some more and make value judgements. It won't let you down.
Faith is self delusion. Why carry all that baggage around with you? You could be truly free.
It's not immoral to eat meat, abort a fetus or love someone of the same sex...I think that about covers it

Here's the beauty of it. You're not loathsome. You have just been duped for being a human. It's the grandest hustle ever. Create an inextinguishable problem and provide a solution. Religions like christianity are systems of institutionalised guilt. Jesus is the impossible standard that you're supposed to chase. You know very well you can't. This causes you to keep going back every saturday or sunday to beg forgiveness. You've got a self perpetuating system of institutionalised guilt.

You're only foolish when you come across the truth and you deny it. You've got the members of this forum to guide you. The ball is in your court.
8000 years before Jesus, the Egyptian god Horus said, "I am the way, the truth, the life."
