I wonder if there are statistics on the number of people who saw Elvis after he died. I'm sure the numbers are certainly comparable.

RE: About Jesus!
OP, Why do you think Jesus was a real person? There were many prophets running around at the time. One school of thought is that Jesus Christ is actually just a personified version of the Christ of the Gnostics. That is to say that when people started writing stories about him it was just to gain converts to the new religion

RE: About Jesus!
It is distinctly possible that at least one Christ-like figure did indeed exist, and the body of tales ascribed to a single man is actually from distinctly different people, with traits cherry picked to represent a rather "positive" view of said virtual person.

I am pretty sure that there were many people running around making claims that they were the son of god etc. If you familiarize yourself with the O.T. you will notice that alot of the prophecies attributed to the future coming of Christ are actually taken out of context. The Christ figure of the N.T. if he did exist seems more like a man trying to accommodate the events in his life to fit the prophecies attributed to his coming. Alot of the stories such as his crucifixion cannot be verified as facts outside of the scriptures. In my view Jesus Christ as presented in the N.T. never existed and the stories surrounding his life are a conglomeration of plagiarized myths and stolen elements from the O.T. as well.

Ok, after all that I have a question.

Why do you think only 12 (was it 12?) people actually believed in Jesus when he was alive?

Would't you think if he new something, more people would have recognised this when he was alive and followed him?

No, instaed they strung him to a cross! It's a bit strange.....

I do believe you are misinformed. the 12 disciples, or apostles as they are referred to in any christian religious sense were not the only people who believed in him. He did not accept anyone to be apostles, and not everyone wanted to be, many had other lives they needed to attend to, such as families.

Think of all the people he helped, did all of those people not believe in him?

I know you are not religious, that is fine. But as General Patton said "Everyone in a foxhole believes in god". Im just saying on the presumption that he did live, and did resurrect, and was all powerful.

But I do feel like you should be more informed before stating any case against religious views. You were unsure how many "disciples" there were, and thought they were the only ones who believed.

We have already established there were more than 12, and yes, I know little of the bible, that is why I put this thread in 'discussion', so as I can learn and discuss.

You can presume all you like, but that does not make it correct.

I have some question for you.

1. How will you know when Jesus has returned? Will it be in the news paper?

2. What would Jesus think of todays Church, considering they accumulate wealth, to say the least?

3. What do you think Jesus would think of todays society?

So, lets discuss!

So, you are comparing Jesus to Elvis, is that a joke?

Why wouldn't he compare Jesus to Elvis? Both men are claimed to have been spotted after death on more than one occasion.
