You all convinced me, I'm now an Atheist!!!

RE: You all convinced me, I'm now an Atheist!!!
As of this moment, I am going to call myself a Christian. I don't believe in God, I deny both the historicity and the divinity of Jesus of Nazareth, I find the Bible to be no better and no worse than what is to be expected from a load of cobbled-together myths of a group of nomadic semi-literate semi-savages, and I find ALL the doctrines unique to Christianity both morally and socially repugnant to any person with a shred of human compassion.

But I insist that people call me a Christian.

Fuxxake, Drich.

You all have convinced me with your endless arguements that despite what 'rule' a given affiliation may have they mean little to nothing compared to what a person 'feels' or claims for himself.

So... I feel like I have spent enough time around atheists to identify myself as one by proxcimity (Not by core belief) But as you all say core belief is just a formality. Who are any of you to say I am not an atheist if i say that I am?

So from now on I wish to be identified as a God loving Atheist!
Hmph

...That is unless you all can conceed that there are indeed rules to being affiliated with a given group, other than a verbal proclaimation stating that one is indeed apart of said group.

You seem to be on a mission to prove how much of a dumb ass you are. I mean, we explained to you how this works in the other thread, before you made this one. So that has to be it.

That being the case, I wish you even more success. I have faith in you, even.

an atheist by definition does not believe in god.

You do.

You however don't think people should not be classed as Christians because they don't believe in Christ in the same way as you.

Do you see the difference?

If Drich could see the difference this thread wouldn't exist.

I am however wondering which (if any) of the well established Christian sects Drich believes is the correct one.

Pick a sect Drich. Any sect.

Your example is exactly my point. Mormons don't even believe in the God of the bible, or the Jesus Christ outlined in the bible yet somehow they are christian, so why not you too? If you're a christian who doesn't believe in God then why can't I be an theist who does? Why do the rules only work in favor of your club?

What's the point of this thread? Semantics about group names aren't going to convince anyone of your faith.

You're accusing others of not worshiping Jesus as outlined in the Bible, yet you insist that Paul's opinions on Mosaic Law supersede Jesus' extremely specific words in the Sermon on the Mount.

By your own standards, you're no more a true Christian than any Mormon. When your savior says something you don't like, you just pretend he didn't mean it.

And you think you're going anywhere but hell when you die. That's the really funny part.

RE: You all convinced me, I'm now an Atheist!!!
I looked up Mormon beliefs

http://www.mormon.org/faq/belief-in-jesus-christ

What in this contradicts Christianity?

Quote:Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God. His birth, life, death, and resurrection fulfilled the many prophecies contained in the scriptures concerning the coming of a Savior. He was the Creator, He is our Savior, and He will be our Judge (see Isaiah 9:6, 53:3-7; Psalms 22:16-18).

Under the direction of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ created the earth (John 1:10; Hebrews 1:2).

When Jesus lived on the earth (approximately 2,000 years ago), He led a perfect life. He taught by word and example how people should live in love of God and others.

Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and by giving His life on the cross—that is, by performing the Atonement —Jesus Christ saves us from our sins (1 Peter 2:21) as we follow Him. Because of the Atonement, you can be forgiven of your sins when you sincerely repent (Book of Mormon, Mosiah 26:30).

Through His Resurrection, Jesus Christ saved us from death. Because He overcame death, we will all be given the gift of resurrection, that is to say our spirits will be eternally re-united with our bodies (Acts 24:15; 1 Corinthians 15:22). When life on this earth is over, Jesus Christ will be the final Judge (Acts 17:31; John 5:21-22; Acts 10:42).

Is it your belief that the Mormon view of Christ stops at what you have outlined here?

You would think out of four canonical gospels they could find a few more similarities between their version, and the biblical version of Christ if they were truly trying to sell the fact that they are christian
