He has a point..

I can say that there are far too many in the east that think like that. But again, there was a time in Christian history where literalism lead Christians to the same barbarity.

And even today, even with our secular leash on Christianity, we still have plenty on our right who want to turn back the clock.

So when moderate and liberal Christians say, "Our religion teaches us empathy"

I say, no, your evolutionary empathy allows you to water down your religious interpretation to skip the nasty parts.
