Is religion declining?
#11
RE: Is religion declining?
As far as the USA goes, the number claiming no religion keeps rising. There is also a rise in some religions other than Christianity but I don't see that as much of a problem. The Christians are the only ones with the power to make strong attacks against secular society because of their numbers. The less of them, the better. Minority religions aren't much of a problem because secular law is what protects them from being crushed by Christianity.

Is non-rational thought in general decreasing? I doubt it, unfortunately.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

If we have fundamentalist bigots/maniacs being slowly replaced by people sitting in their bedroom going "Whoah, man! That was just so spiritual!" then I think that's a good trade.

I think the emotional power religion holds is declining, and secularism is improving. In many places, at least.

While religion was declining, equally silly and primitive Astrological beliefs are becoming more popular.

As science has eroded the credibility of ancient superstitions, and continues to do so, people have and will either learn to reconstruct their values and aspirations with this one life in mind, or find increasingly elusive and obscure excuses to remain credulous.

Old religions are dying and for the better they are no longer needed in a civilized society.
Id rather people praise and worship modern technology than some made up godly figure.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.
